Welcome to The Worst Me Kitchen!
I’m Emma Rose, the disaster-prone founder, kitchen catastrophe chronicler, and perpetual cooking optimist behind The Worst Me. What started as a collection of my most epic recipe failures has grown into a supportive community where home cooks share their biggest kitchen disasters and learn that culinary perfection is totally overrated.
My Culinary Disaster Journey
My relationship with cooking disasters began when I confidently attempted Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon for my first dinner party and somehow managed to set off three smoke alarms, burn the bottom of my Dutch oven, and serve what can only be described as “expensive beef jerky soup.” Instead of giving up, I decided to document every kitchen failure that followed.
Since launching The Worst Me in 2019, my honest accounts of recipe fails, ingredient mix-ups, and cooking catastrophes have helped thousands of home cooks realize they’re not alone in their kitchen struggles. My work has been featured in Food52’s “Not So Perfect” series, The Kitchn’s disaster stories, Bon Appétit’s blooper reel, and various cooking podcasts where hosts need a good laugh.
The Worst Me Kitchen Philosophy
At The Worst Me, we believe:
- Every burnt dinner teaches you something valuable
- Kitchen disasters make the best stories
- Cooking should be fun, not fear-inducing
- Takeout exists for a reason and that’s perfectly okay
- Your worst recipes often lead to your best discoveries
Beyond the Blog
When I’m not burning something new or documenting my latest kitchen fails, you’ll find me teaching “Disaster Recovery Cooking” workshops at community centers, volunteering at local food banks (where my imperfect dishes are still appreciated), and slowly but surely improving my technique. My cookbook, “Beautiful Disasters: What Your Kitchen Failures Can Teach You,” is coming out in 2024.
Let’s Fail Together!
I absolutely love hearing about your recipe disasters, ingredient mishaps, and cooking catastrophes! Share your stories through my contact page – you might see your anonymous disaster featured in our weekly “We’ve All Burned That” series, complete with tips on how to salvage similar situations.
Thank you for joining me in celebrating the messy, imperfect, beautifully chaotic world of home cooking!
